My 61 year old brother was admitted to hospital after being discharged from nursing home with a reduced appetite and a decline in his mental status. He had a history of dementia, was incontinent, and was unable to feed himself. During his hospital admission, the medical staff failed to diagnose a large pelvic abscess. This resulted in an eleven day delay to remove a decaying abscess that could have been removed without complications much earlier. Severe infections accompanied the delay and it caused my brother to have a 2 month hospitalization mostly in the intensive care unit and eventually ending with his pre-mature death. Throughout this horrible ordeal, my brother developed a severe sacral bed sore that contributed to his pain and suffering. The Hospital offered us very little money to settle the case, because they said they did nothing wrong and my brother was so sick anyway. Sinel & Associates, PLLC, never told me to settle, instead they brought the case to trial and combined, a jury gave us close to a million dollars. I was very impressed by the trial attorney and the medical expert surgeon that my lawyers brought to court to testify. Hearing a jury make a finding that there was medical malpractice in the care of my brother gives me a feeling of justice and closure.
